About
Alfred and Catherine Forrest lived at Burnwynd on the Lade Braes in St Andrews. Alfred was a former Principal of Plymouth College of Art and Catherine, nee Carstairs, was a graduate of the University of St Andrews and a former teacher of history. Mrs Forrest had in her retirement written a book of family and local history ‘Living in St Andrews’, published by the University of St Andrews Library.
Childless, the Forrests decided to leave their estate principally for the benefit of postgraduate students in History and Art at the University of St Andrews through a trust that would be administered by a suitable organisation. The Catherine and Alfred Forrest Trust is registered with OSCR with Charity Number SC 035699.
Burnwynd History and Art Ltd is responsible for the fulfilment of the conditions of the will that established the trust, faithful to the intentions of Alfred and Catherine Forrest in perpetuity.
