Biography
Lorena Phillips joined the School of Classics as a Visiting Scholar in 2022 and is a PhD candidate in Classical Studies (Latin Language and Literature) at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), Brazil. Her research is supervised by Prof. Roger Rees (St. Andrews) and Prof. Dr. Isabella Tardin Cardoso (Unicamp). She is interested in the Classical Reception Studies with a focus on the poetry of Ovid and Ted Hughes.
Lorena holds a BA in Portuguese from the University of Campinas gained in 2008, where the emphasis of her research was on Translation Studies and Classical Studies.
She was also a tutor of Portuguese as a Foreign Language at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland between 2011-2017 and has a vast experience on technical translation and interpreting.
