Summer Reconsideration at the University of St Andrews

Summer Reconsideration is a short period after the majority of exam results have been released, during which we may review and reconsider undergraduate applications. This programme is open to eligible applicants and allows reconsideration for any courses where places are available at the time. This may include the programme you originally applied for as well as other courses with vacancies.

When exam results are released, additional spaces may become available on some programmes. This can happen if students who received offers do not meet their conditions or decide not to take up their place. Summer Reconsideration gives eligible applicants who were not offered a place earlier in the cycle the opportunity to be reconsidered for entry where places have become available.

How will I know if I am eligible?

If you are eligible, you will have been notified when we communicated the outcome of your application through UCAS Hub earlier in the cycle. Only applicants who received this will be considered.

Eligible applicants are those who:

  • were identified as having potential during the earlier admissions cycle, and
  • are academically suitable to be considered if spaces become available

How to apply for Summer Reconsideration

Eligible applicants who wish to take part must complete the Summer Reconsideration form that will be made available in their applicant portal ('My Application') on the day that A-level results are released (regardless of the qualifications applicants are taking). We are not able to process requests sent by email or through any other route.

The form will be available for a limited time, so it is important to act quickly. If you are eligible and wish to be considered, you must contact us by 1pm on Thursday 13 August 2026, by emailing reconsideration@st-andrews.ac.uk.

Dates and times for submission will be confirmed and updated by Friday 17 July 2026.
