International day 2025
The School of Physics and Astronomy celebrated its fourth International Day Celebration on 29th August 2025 as organized by the EDI committee of the School. The successful event was well-participated by members from 21 countries (Sweden, Turkey, Netherlands, Germany, Nigeria, Russia, France, Spain, Algeria, Iran, Morocco, Brazil, Lithuania, Cyprus, Romania, Japan, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Ireland, UK and especially Scotland).
The event consisted of a potluck lunch from these international members of the School, displaying the national flag of each country, and special greeting words from them, and many members wore their traditional costumes too. School members could enjoy their lunch to the background music of more than 30 cultural songs from these countries, which were played. There were some very exciting activities like Musical Chair, Bingo game, riddles on food and a quiz on ingredients in different dishes, all of which were participated in and enjoyed by the School members. Dr Abhishek Gupta recited a Hindi poem for us. We also had visitors from other Schools such as the School of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The event was attended by more than 100 people.
