Higher Education Scholarships for Palestinians - Apply Now

3 October 2025

Applications are now being accepted for the Higher Education Scholarships for Palestinians (HESPAL). HESPAL is a UK scholarship programme developed in partnership with Palestinian universities to strengthen the Palestinian higher education sector.

The scholarships are open to resident citizens of the Palestinian Territories who are currently employed by a Palestinian university looking to start a postgraduate Masters degree in September 2026 - including the School of Modern Languages' Masters in Comparative Literature and Masters in Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

Applicants will need to apply for both a Masters degree at St Andrews and a HESPAL Scholarship. We recommend applying for your chosen courses of study before or at the same time as applying for a HESPAL Scholarship. Applicants must complete the HESPAL application form in collaboration with their Palestinian university; Palestinian universities will then nominate their selected candidates.
