Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships - Call for Proposals
The School of Modern Languages at the University of St Andrews offers support for applications to the Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship scheme (ECF) on a competitive basis.
The School hosts a vibrant research culture with internationally recognized expertise in its 8 language disciplines as well as Comparative Literature. Areas of interest extend from the Middle Ages to the contemporary, and include literature, history, visual culture, memory studies, performance studies, postcolonial studies, cultural studies, poetry, gender and queer studies.
Applications
Candidates interested in applying to the Scheme through the School of Modern Languages should, in the first instance, check their eligibility.
If eligible, they should then identify – and contact – an appropriate member of staff to act as a mentor. If the member of staff supports the proposal and agrees that the School can offer the resources required to support the research, then the candidate should prepare a proposal to be submitted by the School’s internal competition deadline. The deadline for applications is 12pm (noon) UK time, 4 November 2025.
Please submit the completed Leverhulme ECRF application form and accompanying documents to Professor Julia Prest, Director of Research by email to langsdor@st-andrews.ac.uk.
Proposed mentors should also submit, by the same deadline, a short statement of support (no more than 500 words) to the Director of Research outlining the strength of the application and confirming their willingness to act as mentor.
