The School of Modern Languages offers two one-year, full-time Masters degrees - the Masters in Comparative Literature and the Masters in Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Both programmes are now accepting applications for September 2026 start - learn more about how to apply.

The School of Modern Languages prides itself on being a vibrant, diverse, inclusive, and engaging academic community. Its academic staff have an exceptionally broad variety of research interests ranging from the medieval period to the present day and engages with literatures and cultures from around the world.
Other programmes
The School also offers a two-year Masters in German and Comparative Literature with the University of Bonn as well as a distance learning Masters in Global Digital Humanities.
Beyond its taught Masters degrees, the School also offers supervision for doctoral and Masters research degrees.
