Research areas

Katrin is a Research Assistant in the Population and Behavioural Science Division of the School of Medicine.  Her current research focuses on people’s willingness to share health data with researchers, and how Patient Reported Outcome Measures data and health data from wearable devices could be utilised in public health research. Katrin is also a part-time PhD student co-supervised by Professor Frank Sullivan, Dr Jo Inchley (University of Glasgow) and Dr Andrew Williams. Katrin’s doctoral research improves the understanding of the association between parental socio-economic position and young people’s health; she utilises statistical analysis of the UK Censuses and Scottish Longitudinal Study.

Before moving to St Andrews in 2017, Katrin worked at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine at the Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health. She worked on the large-scale maternal morbidity study, several evaluation studies, and facility data monitoring. Katrin has completed the Master of Social Sciences degree at the University of Helsinki and the MA in Research Methodology at the University of Liverpool. She also holds BA degrees in Social Work and Nursing.
