School welcomes visiting scholar Arito Ono
The School of Management welcomes Professor Arito Ono as a visiting scholar in the School for a year, until spring 2024.
Arito Ono is from the Faculty of Commerce, Chuo University, Japan. His main fields of research are banking and corporate finance.
At the School of Management, Arito Ono is working alongside and collaborating with staff and PhD students. Specifically, he is initiating a research project with John Wilson, Dimitris Chronopoulos and Anna Sobiech, who have published academic articles on Japanese banking and share a common research interest. The project is associated with the School's Financial Institutions and Markets research thematic group.
Arito Ono received a BA in economics from the University of Tokyo and a PhD in economics from Brown University. Prior to joining Chuo University in 2015, he held the role of senior economist with the Mizuho Research Institute and the Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, Bank of Japan. He also served on working groups at the Financial System Council, Financial Services Agency and as an advisor at the Research and Statistics Department, Bank of Japan.
He has published academic articles in the International Economic Review, the Journal of Banking & Finance, the Journal of Financial Stability, the Journal of the Japanese and International Economies, the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, and the Real Estate Economics. His books include:
