Request an item

What we will do:

We provide staff, students and users with borrowing privilege, a service that allows you to request print resources currently on loan to others or held at specific locations such as Walter Bower House Library, Martyrs, or the Psychology Store.

You can choose the library pick-up location most convenient to you, including Main Library, JF Allen Library, St Mary’s College Library and King James Library, or Walter Bower House Library. Our team will process your requests, retrieve the items, and notify you when they are ready for collection.

The service is free of charge, and there is no limit to the number of requests you can make.

How this will be delivered:

  • We will process your request and retrieve the item from the relevant location.
  • We will send you an email notification to your University account when your item is available to collect from the holdshelf at your selected pick-up location.
  • Items requested from Walter Bower House Library, Martyrs, or the Psychology Store will be delivered next working day, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.
  • During term time, items from JF Allen Library and St Mary’s College Library will be delivered next working day, excluding weekends and statutory holidays.

Important information

  • During vacation periods, delivery times may vary depending on staff availability; any changes will be clearly communicated.
  • Requested items will be held on the holdshelf for five days before being returned to circulation if not collected.
