Inter-Library Loan
What we will do:
We will allow staff and students to request materials not held by Libraries & Museums, including books, book chapters, journal articles, theses, and reports, to support your teaching and research needs.
- We will provide clear email updates on the status of your request, including any charges or fines.
- For physical Inter-Library Loan (ILL) items, we will inform you if the item can be borrowed or is restricted to in-library use only.
- We will process new requests within 24 hours (Monday to Friday).
- Articles and book chapters generally arrive within 3 days, and physical books typically within 10 working days.
- Requests from non-UK libraries may take up to 3 months.
How this will be delivered:
- We will send articles and book chapters to your University email as PDFs via secure download links.
- We will provide you with a password-protected login to access the files, allowing up to 5 views per file.
- We will keep the files available for 30 days after your first access or until you reach the maximum number of views, after which the files will be removed.
- If the files are not accessed, we will keep them available for 30 days from the request date before automatically deleting them.
- We will make physical ILL items available for borrowing or consultation at the Main Library and Martyrs Kirk Thomson Reading Room.
