Events and conference support
We will connect staff, students and members of the public with University Collections and Museums by offering unique venues, expert support, and access to collections to enhance academic and cultural activities.
What we will do:
We will support academic and cultural activity by enabling staff, students, and members of the public to access University Collections and Museums for events and displays. These may include conferences, book launches, receptions, exhibitions, and bespoke sessions featuring collection material or staff expertise. We will facilitate displays in exhibition areas, offer residencies in the Research Studio, or support curated sessions, tours, or online exhibits. Applications must be made via the enquiry form at least six weeks in advance of any event.
How this will be delivered:
- We will reply to booking request emails sent to museumenquiries@st-andrews.ac.uk within 24 hours (Monday to Friday, excluding holidays). If a display is involved, this may include completing a Note of Interest form.
- We will refer eligible proposals to the Programmes and Exhibitions Committee for review.
- We will provide a decision or recommendation based on Committee feedback, staff capacity and strategic priorities. We will recommend one of the following:
- A Research Studio residency
- A display or exhibition
- A bespoke curator-led ‘show and tell’ session with collection materials in Martyrs Kirk or the Learning Loft
- A display in St Salvator’s Quad
- Oral tour of gallery displays
- An online exhibit (to be produced by the applicant)
- We will assign a named contact for any approved display in St Salvator’s Quad.
- We will transport, handle, and supervise use of collection material for approved in-person events.
- We will advise users producing online exhibits, but delivery will remain the user's responsibility.
- We will support oral tours or presentations when agreed or provide staff to lead them.
- We will communicate all decisions and delivery timelines clearly to users.
Important information:
- Applications must be made via email to museumenquiries@st-andrews.ac.uk at least six weeks in advance of any event.
- Opportunities are offered based on alignment with strategic priorities and staff capacity.
- Users will be informed of outcomes following review by the Programmes and Exhibitions Committee.
