The School is delighted to announce that one of our PhD students – Piyanat Soikham – received the Anglo-Thai Society's Annual Award for Academic Excellence 2017 in the Humanities and Social Sciences category.
The award is to acknowledge the achievement and excellence of Thai postgraduate students carrying out the research at British Universities.
Piyanat received his award at a ceremony held in the Oriental Club in London on Friday 17 November 2017. Piyanat's research focuses on Indian Soft Power towards Southeast Asia under the supervision of Dr Chris Ogden and Dr Adam Bower.

The recently published Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 ranked the School of International Relations the top politics and international relations department in the UK. This ranking, on top of our outstanding results in the National Student Survey and the Guardian University Guide 2018 reinforces the excellence of our teaching, research, and impact across a range of global and regional areas of study.
As the School continues to grow both in staff and student numbers, we are keen to continue with this standard of excellence. We look forward to seeing more students from around the world, and we intend to continue to produce ground breaking research that will shape the theoretical agendas of our field and the empirical knowledge about the current events that the world so desperately needs right now. If you have any questions about the School, please do not hesitate to contact Professor Tony Lang, Head of School, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
