Dr Wassim Naboulsi elected Secretary of BRISMES

Dr Wassim Naboulsi was recently elected as Secretary of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES), serving jointly with Dr Sabiha Allouche (University of Exeter). Naboulsi’s term will formally begin following the Society’s Annual General Meeting in June.
BRISMES is the largest association for Middle East Studies in Europe. Established in 1973, it aims to promote and advance the study of the Middle East in the United Kingdom and beyond. The Society publishes the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, one of the leading journals in the field, and provides a key forum for scholars, educators, and researchers through its activities, most notably its annual conference, which is widely recognised as the largest annual gathering of Middle East Studies scholars in Europe.
Dr Naboulsi has been actively involved with BRISMES since 2022, serving as a Trustee, a member of its Council, and Chair of the Membership Committee. Of this appointment, Naboulsi says:
"I am honoured to take on this new role and look forward to contributing to the Society's continued development and support for the field."
