Sutton Trust Summer School
The University of St Andrews has worked alongside The Sutton Trust for the last 20 years, to create opportunities for secondary school students, from mixed social and economic backgrounds, to have the opportunity to experience learning and living in St Andrews. The Sutton Trust works to boost social mobility for young people across the UK. Students are welcomed to our School for one week in July of each year, to have an introduction to studying for a degree in Geography or Sustainable Development. Over the course of a week, they get to experience learning in the classroom, in the lab, and in the field (or beach!)

Sustainable Development: Summer academic experience
A three-week, summer programme for high-school students will introduce key concepts and debates and provide an opportunity to explore and critically discuss some of the principles and practices associated with sustainable development. The course is interdisciplinary with contributions from a wide range of disciplines from physical and human geography, political science, sociology, and environmental management. You will be able to explore different scientific and conceptual approaches to sustainability and discuss and reflect on societal values and core themes such as justice and security, while also actively engaging with tools of implementation
