Research areas
My research has focused mainly on reconstructing volcanically influenced palaeoenvironments. I am interested in the sediments and chemical precipitates that form in volcanically-influenced aqueous environments, like hot springs and alkaline lakes, as well as the alteration and mineralization that occur after deposition. I am also interested in unravelling the influence of microbial activity on sedimentation and alteration in these settings. My work has incorporated fieldwork and geophysical data, as well as petrographic and geochemical analyses. I am now developing methods for nitrogen isotopic analysis.
