The R&A International Scholarship

Can you see yourself spending next year exploring alternative medical practices in the outer reaches of the Arctic, or working in a Sri Lankan elephant orphanage? Would you love a career in food and dream of learning traditional recipes in the regions that created them? Or have you been waiting for an opportunity to join an African wildlife conservation programme? This could be the opportunity for you in the future.

Established by a generous gift from The R&A in support of the University’s 600th Anniversary campaign, the Scholarships are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, designed to fund up to a year of international travel. Scholarships of up to £10,000 each are offered, based on the availability of funds at the time the awards are launched.

Applications for the 2020 R&A International Scholarships are now closed, and due to the current novel coronavirus epidemic, the selection process has been paused and will be reviewed in due course.

However, the awards are expected to be offered again for 2021, and eligible Junior and Senior Honours students will be invited to apply when the next cycle of awards are launched.

Applications for 2020 closed on Friday 31 January 2020.

Applications are made in the MySaint portal and guidance notes can be found at the foot of this page, for reference. There are separate arrangements for students of Medicine, who will need to make interim arrangements with their partner Medical School in order to take up the scholarship.
