Research areas

I manage the  BSRC mass spectrometry core facility, which supports the research of many of the researchers within the Biomedical Sciences Research Complex, the University of St Andrews, and many other Universities in the UK.  I am the first point of contact for collaborations, and will advise on experiment design and assist with interpretation of results.

The facility is mainly Proteomics based, specialising in 2 main areas:

Protein Identification - From simple gel band ID to identification of all proteins in a complex pullodwn mixture.  Confirmation of post-translational modifications, spin labelling, chemical crosslinks, point mutations, truncations, all aspects of protein identification are supported.  Measurement of intact protein mass is also undertaken, including membrane proteins.

Protein Quantitation - Relative protein quantitation by both iTRAQ and SWATH.  Global protein quantitation upon exposure to stress.
