Research areas
Alex [she/her] studies the religious art and material culture of Ethiopia. She is primarily interested in early modern manuscripts, as well as the collection histories of European institutions which hold them.
Her doctoral project investigates a group of Ethiopian manuscripts held in Edinburgh, combining Ethiopian art historical analysis with provenance research and postcolonial approaches to explore historical networks of knowledge and exchange between Scotland and Ethiopia.
