St Andrews No.1 for Art History!

The University of St Andrews has been ranked first for Art History by The Guardian University Guide 2026. The School of Art History scored a 100% rating of excellence based on a combination of all factors. The School has returned to the top spot in the subject league table having previously held this position in 2023 and 2024.

Data from the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS) was used as the primary source for this year’s metrics on satisfaction with teaching and feedback, and on teaching quality. Other elements scored in the survey include entry standards, student-staff ratios, expenditure per student, and provision of support for students.
