School of Art History, No.1 in UK: The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024
For the second time in a week, the University of St Andrews has secured the top spot in a major UK University ranking. Last weekend (Saturday 9 September) the University was ranked top University in the Guardian University Guide 2024, a grading that was also matched in this week’s The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 (Sunday 17 September).
In a historic double first, it is also the first time that any UK university, other than those of Oxbridge, has led both major UK higher education league tables in the same year. The University achieved a total score of 1000 in their institutional ranking. The University of Oxford was second with a ranking of 976, whilst the University of Cambridge was third with 969. No other Scottish university was in the top ten.
In even more special news, the School of Art History has been ranked No. 1 in the subject for the second consecutive year. The School was rated particularly high for Teaching Quality and Student Experience.
The Guide is compiled from data taken from the Higher Education Statistics Agency, The National Student Survey, national funding councils, and the 131 institutions themselves.
Well done to all our staff and students.
