Apply for the Art History Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Fund!
The School of Art History has created this fund to support student-led projects that make Art History and Museum & Heritage Studies more diverse, accessible, and inclusive. We want to empower you – our students – to help shape positive change.
Who can apply?
All students are welcome to apply, including those in Sub-Honours, Honours, PGT, PGR, Digital Programmes, and MA Combined Studies. You can apply individually or as a group.
What kinds of projects are we looking for?
Projects can explore any area of EDI, such as:
- Gender
- Race and ethnicity
- (Dis)ability and accessibility
- Sexuality and LGBTQ+ inclusion
- Religion and belief
- Students with caring responsibilities
- Commuter students
- Educational background / state-school students
Examples of eligible activities:
- Organising a community-building or festive activity to promote cultural diversity, social inclusion, or community engagement
- Curate a display in the Art History reception area or a virtual exhibition on an EDI-related theme
- Hosting a reading group or discussion series on an EDI theme
- Organising a workshop or symposium with a guest speaker
- Running a research project on a type of inequality in Art History or MHS
Further details
Proposals up to £500 will be considered for funding. Projects may start at the earliest by week 1 of semester 2, 2025-2026, and should be completed by 31 May 2026. A short report will be required upon completion to demonstrate how funds were used and what the impact of the project has been.
How to apply
Send a 500-word proposal and a budget (budget not included in word count) to arthistedi@st-andrews.ac.uk by 15 December.
Your proposal should include:
- Project aims and details of proposed activities
- Names, email addresses, and programme details of applicants
- Proposed timeline
- Estimated budget (e.g. catering, printing, UK travel by standard class, speaker fee, digitisation expenses) with breakdown of expenses
Deadline: 15 December 2025
Results announced: 19 January 2026
Project period: Semester 2, 2025–2026
