What is your favourite thing about studying Art History at St Andrews?

Every member of staff I've come into contact with has always been so incredible, in terms of both teaching quality and their passion for this subject. Also, you can't beat the free semesterly field trips to Edinburgh!

What is the most interesting/surprising thing you have learned so far in your Art History studies?

Studying art history here has really challenged my own personal perceptions of the Western narrative of art. The new curriculum the school is slowly incorporating is not afraid to tackle issues of racism and sexism that are so deeply ingrained into our culture.

What Art History paper have you written that you are most proud of? Why?

Last semester, I was fortunate enough to embark on a solo journey to Paris, which I turned into a sort of art pilgrimage. I got to spend some time at the Musee d'Orsay basking before Manet's The Balcony, then taking my notes and using them for my Visual Analysis Paper.
