We use a range of biophysical techniques, most importantly solution NMR spectroscopy and isothermal titration calorimetry, to investigate interactions between bacterial surface proteins and their target human proteins. In particular, we are interested in understanding the molecular basis of protein recognition by highly flexible or intrinsically unstructured polypeptides and the impact of isopeptide bonds on structure, dynamics and function of proteins underpinning bacterial infections.
