Sustainability Week
Sustainability Week is an annual University‑wide programme that brings together staff, students, partners and the local community to explore, celebrate and accelerate action on environmental sustainability. The week provides a shared space to showcase progress, highlight research and practice, encourage dialogue, and support collective action in line with the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
Sustainability Week 2026
Sustainability Week 2026 provided a focal point for the University of St Andrews’ commitment to environmental sustainability, bringing together staff, students, partners and the wider community to engage with climate action, nature recovery and inclusive approaches to sustainable futures.
The week showcased the breadth of sustainability activity across the University, spanning research, education, operations and civic engagement.
Highlights included the visit of Professor Sir Jim Skea, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the award of the St Andrews Prize for the Environment, which continues to celebrate global initiatives delivering innovative and impactful environmental solutions.
Alongside these flagship moments, a diverse programme of lectures, panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions and community‑focused events took place, led by staff, students and partners. Together, these activities demonstrated how sustainability is being embedded across everyday University life and reinforced the University’s Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero by 2035 commitment.
Dates and events for sustainability week 2027 will be published here as soon as they are confirmed.
