ScotGEM funding arrangements

The following arrangements are for the academic year 2024-2025. Guidance and legislation may change in future years. The most up-to-date information on NHS Bursaries can be found on the NHS England Student Bursaries webpage and the NHS Wales Student Bursaries webpage.

The information below explains how your tuition fees and funding will be provided for all years of your Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine (ScotGEM) degree.

Year 1

For the first year, students with RUK (England) fee status pay £3,571 and can apply to Student Finance England for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Students can also apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants.

Years 2 to 4

For years 2 to 4, the NHS pays £3,715 and the student can apply to Student Finance England for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Students are eligible for the reduced rate maintenance loan along with a means-tested NHS bursary and a grant.
2024-2025 entry

Fees for students with RUK (Wales) fee status will be updated when Student Finance Wales opens applications and publishes new fees for 2025.

Year 1

For the first year, students with RUK (Wales) fee status pay £3,465 and can apply to Student Finance Wales for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Students can also apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants.

Years 2 to 4

For years 2 to 4, the NHS pays £3,465 and the student can apply to Student Finance Wales for the remainder of the tuition fee.

Students are eligible for the reduced rate maintenance loan along with a means-tested NHS bursary and a grant.
