The Rusacks is located within easy walking distance of most University buildings, shops and restaurants in St Andrews, as well as the Old Course.

Breakfast will be provided by the hotel as part of your stay on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.

The nearest international airport is Edinburgh Airport, which is approximately an hour and a half to St Andrews by car.  

For information on train travel, please see the National Rail website. The nearest train station to St Andrews is Leuchars. Upon arrival, there are taxis waiting on the other side of the footbridge. There are also regular buses into St Andrews approximately every 15 minutes.

The University will make every effort to collect and return guests to Edinburgh airport, or the local train station at Leuchars.   

As the day before the conference (Monday) and the day after the conference (Friday) are not part of the programme of events, counsellors may arrange to arrive and leave at any time on those dates, however, please be aware of hotel check-in and check-out times on those dates:

• Check in: 3pm onwards
• Check out: 10am

Please come prepared for winter weather. The average temperature in February is around 5°C (41°F), however, it is possible to have four seasons in one day. We advise that you bring clothes for various temperatures, outerwear that is suitable for both wind and rain, a strong umbrella and comfortable shoes for walking.

While you are in your hotel, you should be able to access the Rusacks guest WiFi.

Eduroam is available in all University buildings and covers a good portion of the town.

Don't worry if you do not have access to Eduroam through your home institution, we have arranged guest access for all attendees. Instructions on how to join will be available in your welcome pack on arrival.

Where to eat and drink

St Andrews boasts a huge range of eating establishments, from pizza and pasta to fish and chips, and other local fine dining and casual fare.

Most pubs will offer lunchtime and evening options, but if you have any specific preferences or dietary requirements, please ask our Amissions team when in St Andrews, or reach out to us in advance. 

Where to shop

Market Street and South Street, and the cross-streets like Bell Street, Church Street and Greyfriars Gardens, all have numerous shops to explore, including both larger chains and smaller local stores, with good options for gifts, clothes and books.
