This scholarship is open to UK applicants joining the Masters in Comparative Literature or the Masters in Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in September 2026.

Masters degrees with the School of Modern Languages provide advanced study in global cultures, giving you the intercultural and professional competencies needed to understand, and thrive in, a globalised world. This full-fee scholarship is open to UK applicants joining either the Masters in Comparative Literature or the Masters in Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

This scholarship is available to applicants living in the UK (with Home fees status) who will be starting the Masters in Comparative Literature or the Masters in Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in the 2026-27 academic year. Selection is based on academic excellence.

Applicants should meet all of the following requirements:

  •  Be eligible for Home fees status.
  •  Hold a first-class honours undergraduate degree in a relevant subject
  •  Show evidence of academic excellence - such as academic prizes/distinctions

In support of your application, you will be asked to upload the following supporting documents:

  •  two academic references
  •  University certificates and transcripts
  •  A brief (no more than two pages) résumé/curriculum vitae outlining your academic career and evidence of academic excellence.

You must upload the required paperwork outlined below alongside the standard supporting documents when applying for your place at St Andrews. You should indicate your interest in the scholarship in your personal statement. You must not wait until you have received an offer of a place. All eligible applications received before 31 May 2026 will be considered for the scholarship.

The School of Modern Languages Masters Scholarship cannot be held in conjunction with any other award offered by the University of St Andrews.
