The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences invites applicants for the Environmental Science MSc to apply for a Women in Mining (WIM) UK Scholarship.

Founded in 2006, Women in Mining UK (WIM UK) advocates and speaks for women in the mining sector, informing industry participants and decision-makers of the challenges and opportunities women face in pursuing careers in mining companies and other mining-related businesses.

Additional criteria

Information received in the application will be taken into consideration as part of the overall review process, and no details will be taken in isolation. This information will be used solely for scholarship assessment purposes.

In support of your application you will be asked to upload the following supporting documents:

  • One academic or professional reference, which can be in addition to the one provided in your course application, but must be uploaded before the deadline.
  • University transcript or transcripts, including interim transcripts for any degrees in progress.
  • A curriculum vitae (CV) that includes details about your academic background and any prior research experience.

You must have achieved a minimum 2:1 undergraduate BSc or BEng, or have equivalent experience.

In the application form, you will be required to provide a statement describing your commitment to a career in the Earth and environmental science sector, any personal or professional connection to St Andrews or Fife, and any additional information regarding why you are applying for this scholarship.

You will also be asked to provide a statement explaining how this funding could help you attend the Environmental Science MSc course.

References

You are required to provide one academic or professional reference. 

The academic reference may be the same as one of the academic references submitted with your study application. If you do not have access to those references, please upload a holding document, for example, a Word document listing the referee's name. Your reference will be uploaded to your application after you have submitted your scholarship application.

If your referee prefers to send the reference directly to the School, please ask them to email the reference to ees-pgradmin@st-andrews.ac.uk, including your name and the name of the scholarship for which it is intended, before the scholarship deadline date. When applying for the scholarship, please upload a holding document that includes the referee's name and a note stating that the reference will be sent directly by them. The document will be added after you have submitted the application, provided we receive it by the application deadline.
