Double Teaching Award for Dr Bridget Bradley
The Department's teaching has been recognised in the recent 1416 Teaching Awards, with Dr Bridget Bradley winning one of the University's Teaching Excellence Awards, and a second award from the Student Union, for Outstanding Commitment to Academic inclusivity.
Bridget's teaching and supervision were acknowledged in the nominations from both students and the School, noting her efforts to make her classroom a space for inclusivity and wellbeing as well as critical thinking and valuing marginalised voices in scholarship and the wider world.
The student nomination in particular praised her commitment to inclusivity stretches beyond the classroom: "Bridget’s advocacy for mental health is something that she always makes visible. For students with anxiety or any neurodivergency, she is someone that we can feel confident approaching in contexts like office hours, which may otherwise be intimidating. In her seminars, we can feel comfortable discussing our personal experiences without judgement. Her classroom is one where everyone feels welcome".
