Course information

When publishing in subscription or hybrid journals, a key way of complying with open access requirements—both the University’s and various funders—is by depositing your accepted manuscript in our repository via Pure. This is called green open access and is made possible at the University of St Andrews through our rights retention strategy, which allows St Andrews staff to retain their rights to their accepted manuscript. This bite-size workshop will introduce key concepts and answer questions about rights retention at the University for any staff who want to publish their research.

Aims and objectives

  • To gain familiarity with green open access and its practical benefits to researchers
  • To better understand the rights retention process and when it needs to be applied
  • To build confidence by dispelling myths and misconceptions surrounding open access and rights retention
