Research areas
David Gascoigne’s research has centred on contemporary French fiction. He has published books on Michel Tournier (Oxford/Washington D.C.: Berg, 1996), and on Georges Perec (The Games of Fiction: Georges Perec and Modern French Ludic Narrative, Oxford: Peter Lang, 2006) in addition to articles on a wide range of contemporary French writers of fiction. He was made a Chevalier des Palmes académiques by the French government in 2008, and a Festschrift to mark his retirement was published in 2011 (Narratives of French Modernity, ed. Lorna Milne and Mary Orr, Oxford: Peter Lang).
