  • an afternoon-long writing workshop to UG and PG students
  • sharing her experience of running writing workshops with colleagues
  • she wrote a preface to the collection of texts submitted by students in a concours d’écriture (writing competition), co-organised by the Universities of Edinburgh, Napier and St Andrews and attended the awards ceremony in Edinburgh

At the French Institute, Laurence also took part in a rencontre littéraire led by Elise Hugueny-Léger, discussing her books and writing process. Laurence also met with students on the module ‘Writing the Self in 20th and 21st century French Literature’ to answer their questions on her text A la fin le silence, which they have been studying.

Every day during her stay, Laurence contributed to the writer in residence blog. The blog has now been translated into English with the help from students and colleagues in French.
