Award for Amy McTurk
The School wishes to congratulate postgraduate research student Amy McTurk as she has won the 2021 Women in French Graduate Student Essay Award for her essay entitled: "Le portrait de l’artiste peint par elle-même: Negotiations of the Artist-Muse Binary in George Sand’s Elle et lui (1859)". Amy has received the award jointly with Hannah Volland for "Les traces de la honte : l’écriture du trauma et le renouvellement de l’autobiographie dans La honte d’Annie Ernaux".
Both essays will be published in Women in French Studies. In addition to the cash award given to the winners, a plaque will be presented to the WIF Outstanding Faculty Mentors of these graduate students, Prof Mary Orr and Prof Barbara Havercroft (University of Toronto).
