LGBT+

LGBT+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and related communities, recognising the various ways that people self-identify in terms of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The School of Modern Languages is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment in which all students and staff can be their authentic selves and reach their full potential.

The University of St Andrews is a Stonewall Diversity Champion and it has compiled support and information for the LGBT+ student community, and a policy and guidance on Trans Staff and Students.

The University has a Saints LGBT+ group for students, an LGBTQI+ employee network terms of reference, and our community is always well represented at the annual St Andrews PRIDE event.

The School has adopted the University’s pronoun guidance and devised its own inclusive language guidelines for each taught language. We have a Student Harassment & Bullying Policy, and complaints or concerns should be reported via the University’s Report and Support tool.
