Biography
Dr Xi is an Associate Lecturer at the School of Management at the University of St Andrews. She completed a PhD entitled 'The strategic roles of middle managers in organisational changes in Chinese universities' at the Global Development Institute, University of Manchester, UK.

Research areas
Dr Xi’s research focuses on three topics: organisational changes, strategic management and higher education institutions. Her doctorial research explores the capacity of middle managers acting as change agents in Chinese universities. This interdisciplinary study reveals the mechanism of organisational changes in Chinese universities under the dual pressures of marketisation and government regulation, and the strategic roles of middle managers during the process. It contributes to the body of knowledge on the organisational change and internal governance of Chinese universities, and the competencies of change agents in higher education institutions.
