Workplace health surveillance hazards
Employees may lose trust in employers if they are faced with additional surveillance in the workplace, even if preventing the spread of Covid-19 is the initial purpose.
Professor Kirstie Ball spoke with New Statesman Tech about intensification of employee surveillance during the coronavirus pandemic.
In the interview, Ball focussed on changes to organisational culture that follow from additional surveillance measures – changes that can lead to increased stress and absenteeism. She urged employers to take great care when considering any new measures in an arena so closely associated with workplace wellbeing.
