Management student wins entrepreneurship prize

23 May 2024

Congratulations to Rachel Hymes, fourth year student with the Business School Department of Management, who is a winner in the Entrepreneurship Centre's bi-annual awards.

Rachel's win was in the 'service' category of 'What's the big idea?', an ideas competition open to anyone across the University of St Andrews community who has an idea for a new technology, product or service. Reflecting on the win, she said:

My idea, 'SLAY FOR A DAY,' was a sustainable clothing rental platform to reduce waste by facilitating the direct rental of single-use, event-specific attire.
Overall, the support from staff and administration, especially that of Dr Reid, Scenario Thinking module coordinator, during my time at St Andrews has been so meaningful. Looking forward, I am excited to further develop this idea following my time in Scotland.

Rachel's prize included £100 and a place on next semester's FastStart programme.
