Child nutrition policy in Scotland and Japan
Professor Tobias Jung, Director of the Centre for the Study of Philanthropy & Public Good at the University of St Andrews Business School Department of Management, is currently Visiting Professor at Kwansei Gakuin University, Nishinomiya, Japan.
While in Japan, Professor Jung met with Mr Masashi Ishikawa, newly elected mayor of Tsukumi City, Oita Prefecture. One of the ambitions of Mr Ishikawa's new administration is to advance child nutrition through the free provision of school lunches. The discussion outlined potential areas for development, with reference to the extensive work that charities are doing to address food poverty in Scotland, particularly Dundee, and the collaborative and catalytic potential that partnerships with philanthropic actors and corporates presents within this context.
