Scottish Government and policy in practice

8 February 2023

Dr Vicky Ward, School of Management Reader in Management and Director of the Research Unit for Research Utilisation (RURU), was invited to speak at the opening of the Scottish Government's Evidence in Policy fortnight.

At a hybrid event in January 2023 attended by over 100 officials and analysts from across the Scottish Government and its agencies, Vicky reflected on some of the issues that the landscape of evidence in policy and practice presents for those working at the interface of the two. She suggested ways of navigating these issues using simple but fundamental questions.  Dr Louise Scott, Deputy Chief Social Researcher for the Scottish Government, thanked Vicky for her contribution, noting that "your insights are invaluable and your message about the complexity of, but importance of, the role of evidence very encouraging. It gets us off to a great start to the fortnight."
