Research Excellence Framework 2021
Following the May 2022 publication of the results of the Research Excellence Framework exercise (REF) 2021, the School of Management is delighted to announce that it has performed well in the Business and Management Studies panel across the constituent components of outputs, impact and research environment.
Overall, 88% of the School's research activity across the three components of the REF was deemed to be world-leading or internationally excellent.
The majority (80%) of the School's submitted research outputs were evaluated as world-leading or internationally excellent.
Impact case studies that were considered to demonstrate impacts of outstanding or very considerable reach and significance were:
- financial cooperatives (credit unions)
- evidence-based policy
- small and medium-sized enterprises.
100% of the School's research environment was judged to be conducive to the production of research that is world-leading or internationally excellent with considerable reach and significance.
In line with the School's research strategy, the members of the School remain committed to producing world class research that provides demonstrable benefits to society. The School aspires to build on and expand its global reputation as an internationally leading management school that pursues hiqh-quality scholarship across focused intellectual themes grounded in the social sciences – and under the overarching theme of responsible management.
