Professor wins funding to study UK social enterprises
Professor John Wilson, Director of the Centre for Responsible Banking & Finance at the School of Management, and Dr José Liñares-Zegarra, from Essex University and the School of Management, have secured research funding from the ESRC Enterprise Research Centre (ERC) for a study of UK social enterprises.
The project will utilise the Longitudinal Small Business Survey compiled by the Department of Business Energy innovation and Skills in order to provide new evidence regarding the key factors in driving the location, performance and outreach of social enterprises.
Professor Wilson noted:
Given the increasing importance of social enterprises and the limited empirical research based on these specific types of organisations, we are confident that our proposed research will provide new insights for practitioners and policymakers interested in the crucial role that social enterprises play within the UK economy.
