Academic Skills Project

The Academic Skills Project provides Undergraduate students with academic skills training specific to their discipline. Programmes of high-quality, interactive workshops are designed and delivered by Postgraduate Researchers in subjects across the Arts and Sciences. In the past, workshops have covered topics including:

  • Essay planning and writing
  • Report writing
  • Understanding feedback
  • Presentation skills
  • Exam preparation
  • Referencing
  • Preparing for tutorials
  • Finding and analysing sources

Engaging with the Academic Skills Project early in your studies will help prepare you for University study in a way that is specialised to the subjects you are taking. Workshops are a great way to meet fellow students and learn some insider tips from those who have already been through the process.

Each School will run workshops slightly differently, some having online provision while others may only run in-person. Please pay close attention to the delivery method of the workshop you want to attend, as well as the sign up details circulated by the organiser.

If your School is participating in the Academic Skills Project 2025-6, you can find more information and links to workshop programmes below.

If you have any questions, you can get in touch with your School Coordinator or contact IELLI.

Further information about how to participate will be circulated by your School, or you can contact your School Coordinator - details are on each of the subject pages listed above.
