Text source

Elisabeth Clerck was the daughter of Robert Clerck [SSNE 6127], merchant burgess of Gothenburg, and his unnamed wife who died shortly after giving birth to her youngest brother Patrick. She was born either around 30 August 1672 or early in 1674 (there are two listings for her) and baptised on the 1 February that year (depending on sources). Her godparents included Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Hamilton [SSNE 2605] and Major Gustav Macklier [SSNE 4690]. On 9 December 1690 Elisabeth married William Kinnaird [SSNE 7229], and little more is known of her life other than that she had 12 children. She died in 1716 or 1717 and was buried on 25 April. Elisabeth's other surviving brother was Robert [SSNE 6245].
