Robert Clerck was the son of Robert Clerck [SSNE 6127] a merchant burgess of Gothenburg, and his unamed wife who lived from 1651 until 1677. Robert jr. was baptised on 12 April 1671. Not much else is known of his life other than that he died of a fever at the age of 19 years 5 months in 1689. Clerck, noted as "L.L. studiosus", was buried at Christina church in Gothenburg on 30 November 1690.
