John Hamilton was a reformed captain in John Hamilton's [SSNE 2595] regiment of the Swedish army from 1630 to 1632. This regiment was taken over by Ludovick Leslie [SSNE 396] and served at the battle of Lutzen. This may be the same John Hamilton who as a captain was given 6 months' leave in 1632, along with Major Uchtreid Macdougal [SSNE 2854], and Captains James Hamilton [SSNE 2586] and Alexander Stewart [SSNE 3572], to recruit in Scotland for the Duke of Weimar's regiment.
