James Hamilton of Parkeley (Parklea) served as a captain in Alexander Hamilton's regiment until 1630. Thereafter he transferred to John Hamilton's regiment. James Hamilton had one known wife, Isabel Maule. This may be the same James Hamilton who as captain got 6 months leave, along with Major Uchtreid Macdougal [SSNE 2854], and Captains John Hamilton [SSNE 2594] and Alexander Stewart [SSNE 3572], to recruit in Scotland in 1632 for the Duke of Weimar's regiment. Cf. [SSNE 2587].
