Professor Wolfgang Mueller, Bullough Fellow 2026-2027
Wolfgang Mueller (Fordham University) will be joining the Department of Medieval History, School of History at the University of St Andrews, as the Bullough Fellow in the academic year 2026-2027. He will be with us during the Martinmas semester, and will give a paper in the Medieval Studies Seminar Series and lead a workshop on a topic of his choice for our MLitt and PhD students.
Professor Mueller is an expert in the development of law, particularly canon law, in the High and Later Middle Ages. His list of publications is extensive and includes monographs such as Marriage Litigation in the Western Church, 1215-1517 (Cambridge University Press, 2021), The Criminalization of Abortion in the West. Its Origins in Medieval Law (Cornell University Press, 2012) and Huguccio: The Life, Works, and Thought of a Twelfth-Century Jurist (Catholic University of America Press, 1994).
