When and where to arrive at student accommodation in September 2026

This guide details where you need to go and when if you are arriving at student accommodation in September 2026. There is a separate process for those arriving at University managed properties.
If you are staying in University managed properties throughout the town and local area, Property Services will contact you before you arrive to provide information on your specific arrangements.
If you are arriving for Semester 2 in January 2027 we will be in touch before your arrival.
If you are arriving at student accommodation for September 2026 entry, you can usually move in from 10am on Saturday 5 September 2026.
When you arrive at your accommodation, make sure you bring photographic ID, such as a passport, driving licence, or Young Scot card.
Saturday is the busiest day for checking in, with large numbers arriving before the afternoon on Saturday. Depending on your travel arrangements, you may want to plan to arrive later on Saturday, on Sunday, or even later in the week.
Most Halls will be open until at least 7pm on Saturday 5 September and at least 5pm on Sunday 6 September 2026. All Halls have out of hours check-in options.
Arrival slot information will be emailed to you early in September. Please book an arrival slot to help us plan staffing. If you are delayed due to changes in travel, please don’t worry. If changes mean you will arrive outside of the check-in hours below, or a day or two late, please contact your Hall of Residence by email.
Out of hours arrivals
If you are arriving outside the hours displayed below on Saturday or Sunday, please call the number displayed on the main door of the Hall when you arrive. A member of the team will give you your key and check you in.

Arriving after arrival weekend

Agnes Blackadder Hall and Powell Hall

There is ramp access to reception and all ground floor rooms. There is a lift to all floors in this accommodation.

Andrew Melville Hall

There are a small number of steps to the main entrance. Flat access and limited disabled spaces are available behind the Hall. There are multiple levels within the Hall requiring the use of stairs.

David Russell Apartments and Fife Park Apartments
Where to go
David Russell Hall Reception in the Facilities Building
Accessibility information
Access to the Facilities Building is step free. There are multiple levels within all accommodation buildings that require the use of stairs.
Where to park
There is a drop-off point for key collection at the main entrance.
If you will be living in David Russell Apartments, longer term parking is available near the Facilities building.
If you will be living in Fife Park Apartments, please drop the student off at David Russell Apartments and proceed to Fife Park, where spaces are available in front of each building.
At busy times, or if you are staying for a longer period, you may be directed to other car parks.
Check in
Please follow signage to visit the check-in desk. A one-way system is in place for key collection based on your building name. Make sure that you have your building name, flat and room number to hand, for example, Scott Flat 1 Room 1 or SC0101. If you don’t know this, please ask a member of staff or wardennial team before checking in.
Please do not use the main front entrance as this is used as an exit.

John Burnet Hall
Where to go
Accessibility information
There is ramp access to the main reception, and step-free access to the Annexe. There are multiple levels within the Hall that require the use of stairs.
Where to park
There is a drop off for key collection only at the reception. Free longer term parking may be available at Petheram Bridge car park.

McIntosh Hall

Accessibility information
The main entrance to the building is up a number of steps. There are multiple levels within the Hall that require the use of stairs. There is a lift which can access floors A to D only.
Where to park
There is no dedicated parking or drop-off point for McIntosh Hall. Local streets such as Abbotsford Crescent will be very busy. We encourage you to park in local car parks and only use a vehicle to drop off.

St Regulus Hall

The reception is up a number of steps and there is no lift within this accommodation. There are multiple levels within the Hall that require the use of stairs.
Where to park
There is no dedicated parking or drop-off point for St Regulus Hall. Local streets will be very busy. We encourage you to park in local car parks and only use a vehicle for droping off.

St Salvator’s Hall, Gannochy House and Deans Court

The reception at St Salvator’s Hall is up a small number of steps. St Salvator’s Hall has a lift. There are multiple levels in Gannochy House that require the use of stairs. Deans Court main buildings at 3-11 North Street and 3-5 South Street have multiple levels that require the use of stairs.
Where to park
There is no dedicated parking for St Salvator’s Hall, however, there is a drop-off point for key collection only. Longer term parking may be available in Castlecliffe car park. Local streets such as The Scores and North Street will be very busy.

University Hall and Whitehorn Hall

Accessibility information
The main entrance at University Hall is up a small number of steps. There is also dedicated flat-level access. There are multiple levels within the Hall that require the use of stairs. There are lifts in Lumsden and Old Wing buildings and Whitehorn Hall.
Where to park
For University Hall there is a drop-off point for key collection only at the main entrance. There is no dedicated parking for University Hall. Local streets will be very busy. We encourage you to park in local car parks or at Petheram Bridge car park and only use a vehicle for droping off.
For Whitehorn Hall there is a drop-off point behind the building. While there is no dedicated car park, you may find a longer term space available at the Sports Centre about 150m away.
