Request wifi access for visitors

Updated on: 16 July 2025

Visitors can use one of the University's wifi networks when meeting staff members or attending events at the University.

To log in to eduroam at the University of St Andrews, visitors from eduroam-participating institutions can use the same login details they use at their institution.

University visitors who don't have an eduroam login can get online using:

  • a temporary eduroam account requested by their staff host
  • free BT wifi during the summer

How to request temporary eduroam accounts

If you are hosting an event you can request eduroam log ins for your guests. You must send your request to IT Services at least five working days before your visit and provide:

  • a mobile number or email address for each guest
  • the date or dates of your visit

For up to nine visitors

Complete the eduroam visitor access form. The IT Service Desk will send each visitor their login details.

For ten visitors or more attending an event or conference

Email itservicedesk@st-andrews.ac.uk with:

  • the name of your event
  • the date of your event
  • the maximum number of guests

Free BT wifi

The University offers free BT wifi in most University buildings, including halls of residence during the summer. This typically runs from June to September each year.

Connect to BT wifi

  1. On your device, connect to the wireless network BTWiFi.
  2. You'll see a University of St Andrews page. Click Get online.
